Bassets and Treats
As anyone who has a basset hound can tell you, bassets love their treats. They also have been good at determining ways to get more treats than they should get. One of the 3 bassets will sit in the garage after dinner until someone brings him a treat. Only then will he come into the house. He also will bark to come into the house, and then stand at the door until a treat is given.
I believe he thinks it is his right as a basset to be given treats!
Perhaps he is right...

Humm... how did you know that it is Max the wonder dog who does this? Could it be that his sister Agnes does this too?
Agnes comes up to me immediately after dinner, thanks me sweetly by wiping her eyes on me, then ROOFs at me until I give her the post-dinner cookie. Sound familiar?

Agnes and Max the wonder dog really must be brother and sister! Max does the same thing! He always rubs his head on my leg and then looks at me with those basset eyes and woofs for his cookie. :o)
