Bassets getting along with each other
I find it interesting how one minute the basset hounds will be best friends, and then the next minute they are growling and barking at each other. I cannot even figure out why they are angry with each other. They will have been sitting there happy as can be, and then all of a sudden, they are mad. I often wonder if perhaps they use looks to relay evil messages to each other. Perhaps one type of blink is an insult, where another one is not.
I also find it interesting that they forgive and forget quickly as well. I have seen the bassets going at it, drawing blood, and then sleeping next to each other.
They are strange animals that is for sure.

First premise: all hounds have some similar characteristics.
My daughter rescued a coonhound that I adopted. When I tell her of something strange this dog just did, she replies "She has a weird mind." So the bassetts, being hounds, like all hounds, have weird minds. Either that, or they are telepathically insulting each other!!!!
The real problem is the fact that one of the pack is always looking to take over the leadership role and so he is always trying to annoy the leader with a look. The older basset is getting frail and the other one knows this.
